About Pearl Earrings
The earring is where most pearl collections begin — a single pair of studs that reads as easily with a t-shirt as with a wedding dress. Ours range from mirror-bright Japanese Akoya studs to Tahitian drops with peacock overtones and South Sea pearls framed in diamond. Each pearl is chosen for luster, surface, and roundness and set in fourteen-karat gold; every piece is made to our specification, then inspected and approved in New York before it carries our name.
Choosing your pearl earrings
Akoya pearls give the sharpest, most mirror-like luster — the classic white stud. Freshwater pearls offer the same warmth at a gentler price. Tahitian pearls carry darker overtones of green, aubergine, and steel. South Sea pearls are the largest, with a softer satin glow.
Size and backs
Stud sizes run from six millimeters for an everyday scale to nine millimeters and above for a fuller presence at the lobe. Friction backs sit flush and slip on quickly; screw backs hold more securely for pieces worn daily or traveled in.
Caring for pearl earrings
Pearls are organic. Put them on last, after fragrance and hairspray, and wipe them with a soft cloth after wear. Kept simply, they hold their luster for a lifetime.
